New Probation Director Named For County

A new Probation Director for Cortland County was named by the County Legislature. The Legislature voted unanimously to appoint Matthew Deno as the Probation Director for the county, his approval comes after an approval by the County Judiciary and Public Safety Committee.

Deno was also interviewed by several Legislators, Price, Bischoff, and VanGorder, along with County Administrator Michael Ponticiello, and County Personal Officer Laurie Leonard. All interviewers gave their recommendations to the full Legislature for Deno’s hiring.

“I look forward to serving the people of Cortland County.” Deno said to the Legislature. “My door is always open, call me any time. I look forward to doing work for the people here.”

His role as Probation Director for Cortland County will officially begin on March 30, according to the county. His salary will be $98,334.
