New Law Allows Workers to File For Workers Comp For Work-Related Stress
A new law has been signed by Governor Hochul for those who are working and are facing a job-related mental health crisis. The new law will allow employees to file for worker’s compensation for specific types of mental injury that came from “extraordinary” work-related stress.
“New Yorkers work hard — and those who have experienced the unthinkable while on the job deserve to be treated fairly,” Governor Hochul said. “The mental health crisis our country has experienced since the COVID-19 pandemic is unprecedented, and we need to do everything in our power to lend a hand to those in need. I’ll never stop fighting for the working people of New York.”
The law expands previous legislation of workers compensation coverage for work-related stress that was only available for first responders.
