New freshwater fishing regulations go into effect in our state on April first.
Included are new rules for rainbow, brown trout and splake in lakes and ponds, with a year-round season, five fish daily limit – any size, and a “no more than two longer than 12-inches harvest rule.”
Another change is to limit growth of the walleye population in Skaneateles Lake. There will be no daily limit, and a 12-inch minimum size limit, with walleye fishing open year round.
And the statewide sunfish daily harvest limit was reduced from 50 to 25 fish.
DEC says these changes should make fishing regulations simpler. Further information can be found HERE.
