It looks like Cortland County will still have only one representative in Congress.

The court appointed special master Jonathan Cervas to redraw congressional districts across New York State. Yesterday, he released his preliminary draft. If approved, Cortland County will now be part of the new 19th NY district.

Along with Cortland the new district includes Tompkins and Broome counties, and stretches all the way to Columbia County on the New York-Massachusetts border.

Cortland’s current Congressional Representative Claudia Tenney will be seeking her third term in a different district. Right now, Republican Marc Marinaro has announced he will run in the new drawn district, while current Democratic representative Antonio Delgado is expected to resign and be named the new Lieutenant Governor of New York. The redistricting is expected to pass thru New York Courts without issue.

The congressional primary is set for August 28th.
