Credit: dhlovelifeNeil Young has given fans a look at Mountaintop, a upcoming documentary about the making of Colorado, Young’s upcoming studio album with his old backing group Crazy Horse.

The two-minute clip, which was posted on and Young’s social media sites, shows Neil and Crazy Horse running through one of the new songs from Colorado, “Help Me Lose My Mind.”

The video also includes a glimpse of bassist Billy Talbot laying down some backing vocals, and captures Young angrily interacting with co-producer John Hanlon as they try different things to get the sound Neil wants on the track.

Accompanying the preview video is an essay about the making of Colorado and the Mountaintop film, written by music journalist, producer and Young’s former publicist Bill Bentley.

Bentley notes that the sessions took place at a studio “among the majestic mountains of Colorado,” and that the documentary captures “the highs and lows of four men making music [that] started turning into an unforgettable journey through time, marked by different songs being born as the music never stopped.”

He also reveals that, along with the studio footage, the documentary includes “near-mystical live performances from recent concerts.” Bentley adds that the film’s “goal is to show who Neil Young and his music really is, at its inception and taken to the next stage to its reception.”

Colorado will be released on October 25.  According to a message from Young, Mountaintop will premiere in more than 100 theaters around the world the same week that the album hits stores.
