Needle Disposal Boxes Approved at County Office Building & Homer P.D.

Local News

Legislators in Cortland County on Thursday (November 21) approved the installation of used-needle receptacles outside the Homer Police Department and Cortland County Office building, along with any other sites that may be designated in the future.

Each container will be provided and maintained by the Southern Tier AIDS Program (STAP), which the organization has agreed to do at no cost to the county.

The agreement was made official through passage of a legal memorandum of understanding, which will be reviewed by both parties at the close of each calendar year.

Cortland Common Council made a similar decision at their meeting two days prior, in which a resolution was passed to install a sharps disposal box outside city hall.
