With the warm sunny weather the question is being asked, is it too dry? The US National Weather Service in Binghamton has announced that no drought is in our area and only in Western New York is it being considered only abnormally dry.

Last June our area received 5.52” inches of rain, but when compared to this year, only 2.47” inches of rain was measured.

This is below the base average over 22 years and while less rain has fallen, especially compared to last year where storms were constant all summer the US National Weather Service’s climate sites are actually above average for the month and are close to consistent for the month of July.

The USNWS did note that the climate sites are located in Binghamton and Syracuse.
