National Weather Service Issues High Wind Warning for Tuesday – Gusts up to 60 mph

Update 1/9/24: The National Weather Service has upgraded the warning to a High Wind Warning now. The NSW says wind gusts could peak at 60 mph.

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Binghamton has issued a Wind Advisory for both Cortland and Tompkins Counties beginning at 3pm tomorrow (Tuesday) through 4am Wednesday. The Weather Service says winds will come from the southeast between 20 to 30 mph, but with gusts as high as 50 mph.

The gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects, the NWS says. Tree limbs could also be blown down and power outages may occur as a result. The strongest winds are expected for areas of higher terrain and along north and west facing slopes.
