National Weather Service Binghamton Offering Training Sessions for SKYWARN

The National Weather Service at Binghamton has announced upcoming training sessions for those interested in becoming a trained Storm Spotter through SKYWARN.




SKYWARN is a year round program where those interested in participating are trained how to accurately report severe weather to the National Weather Service. Those could include snowfall measurements, severe weather (hail, wind, tornadoes, and flooding).

Upcoming training sessions include sessions in both Cortland and Tompkins Counties. For Tompkins County, the upcoming session will take place on April 12th from 6:30 to 8pm at 92 Brown Road in Ithaca. For Cortland County, training will take place on May 11th from 6:30 to 8pm at 3577 Terrace Road (Raymond G. Thorpe Municipal Building, Cortlandville).
