National Grid Partners With Several Food Banks, Including Food Bank of CNY

National Grid says they have joined forces with several food banks across the state to help combat food insecurity for those facing economic hardship while demand for assistance continues to rise. National Grid says they will contribute $275,000 in funding to support local food organizations, including the Food Bank of CNY, who provides assistance to residents in Cortland County.

“Families in our communities need our help more than ever,” said Komie Jain, Global Head Social Impact and Community Engagement. “We are grateful to work with our local community partners to help provide food for those in need. This is one of the many ways National Grid’s social impact initiatives provide essential support in the communities we serve where it is needed most.”

The company says their contribution will allow the food banks to purchase more food and keep food pantry shelves stocked.

“The increased need that Food Bank of Central New York has seen across our 11-county service area in 2 weeks has been staggering.  We thank National Grid for these funds which will support the Food Bank and our community partners as we continue to work to meet the demand,” said Karen Belcher, President & CEO of Food Bank of Central New York, which serves Cayuga, Chenango, Cortland, Herkimer, Jefferson, Lewis, Madison, Oneida, Onondaga, Oswego, and St. Lawrence counties.
