National Grid Bills to Rise Again Next Month Following Approved Rate Hikes
Both gas and electric customers of National Grid can expect their bills to go up once again come April. Rate hikes will take effect for the second year of National Grid’s three-year rate increase. The increase was approved by the Public Service Commission (PSC) last August with the first rate hike taking place in September.
Over the next three years, customers can expect the cost of electricity and gas to increase by just over $600 a year for the average household, according to data provided by National Grid.
Last September, electricity customers saw an average increase of $14.32. This year the increase will average around $6.44. In 2027 it will increase by $4.34.
Natural gas customers will see an increase in their bill next month on average around $8.08. In 2026, it increased by $7.66. For 2027, customers can expect to increase by $9.18 a month.
The PSC says the adopted rate plan includes infrastructure investments in the amount of $4.3 billion for electric and $1 billion for gas in the Upstate New York Region.
