John Harrison: Good morning everybody, welcome back to X101 Always Classic. John Harrison in the Cayuga Health Studio as part of Cayuga Health System sponsored studios, and joining me today is Major Corinne Hayes of the Salvation Army of Cortland. Major, thanks so much for coming in.

Major Corinne Hayes: Thank you, I really appreciate the time.

John Harrison: Of course, we’re always happy to have you in. Seems like only a couple weeks ago, but it must have been months ago now that we last talked about the guest chef dinner series. We got some news on that. The next lineup in the series is coming up pretty soon, September 1st. Want to talk a little bit about that?

Major Corinne Hayes: Sure thing. Tuesday, September 1st, we have Nanus’s coming in to provide some chicken. It’ll be a surprise if it’s chicken tenders or chicken sandwiches, but I myself have had their chicken sandwiches and they’re amazing. Just yesterday, Mayor Scott Steve was talking about how huge their chicken tenders are. So it’ll be a great dinner either way.

John Harrison: That’s going to be so great. Not just a local business, but a brand new restaurant. I remember when they opened not too long ago, line out the door, rounding around the block. Our very own Scott went down to try to wave around the social media badge, still couldn’t even get in. So they’re doing pretty good and the food over there is pretty nice. That’s going to be awesome. Want to share some details of the dinner, how people can get in, get involved, what they need to know? Obviously, it’s coming up Tuesday, September 1st.

Major Corinne Hayes: Sure. At this point, really all you have to do is show up. The dinner will be $15. I will tell you, because it’s Nanus’s and it is a new restaurant, I think it’s going to be a big showing, so I wouldn’t wait till six. We serve between 4:30 and 6:00, the dinners. We started this just as a way to raise funds, and different restaurants in town choose a meal they’re going to make for us, and they bring it in, and we serve it up to people. Whether you pay online or you pay in person, either way is fine.

John Harrison: And 15 bucks, can’t beat it for that price. Folks, if you do go to Nanus’s, you skip out on this great dinner on Tuesday and you miss out on the time, it’s going to cost you a little bit more than $15. So make your way down to the Salvation Army, can’t beat that deal.

Major Corinne Hayes: That’s the nice thing, because all the restaurants, they’ll make something that people quite often will go to their restaurant and get, and it is, like you said, more than $15. So this is a great opportunity for everybody: for us, that people share their time and share their funds to get the dinner; for the restaurants, because they can find out these people are really nice or they’re doing this to help raise funds; and for you, that it costs a little bit less to get a dinner and you don’t have to cook it.

John Harrison: Especially on a Tuesday. Who wants to go home and cook on a Tuesday?

Major Corinne Hayes: Exactly. Exactly.

John Harrison: Well, Major, is there any other information? Looking forward, October is down the line, but October 6th is going to be the date for the next series.

Major Corinne Hayes: Yes, it’s always the first Tuesday. So we’re excited about all of the restaurants that have signed up and have decided to do this. On Tuesday, it’s CP Specialty Foods that are going to provide the dinner for us as well, so that’s a little different, and we’re looking forward to that.

John Harrison: That’ll be great, and that’s coming up in October. That’ll be nice, I’m sure it’ll be some good food to keep you warm, especially October—the cold just comes in out of nowhere.

Major Corinne Hayes: So true.

John Harrison: Well, Major Hayes, anything else you want to add?

Major Corinne Hayes: No, just really thank you all who have in the past come to partake in this event, and we look forward to seeing you on Tuesday. Tuesday is going to be a good one.

John Harrison: All right. And date and time, so people know, just one last time.

Major Corinne Hayes: Tuesday, September 1st, from 4:30 to 6:00.

John Harrison: All right, perfect. Well, Major Corinne Hayes, thank you so much for coming in and chatting with me today.

Major Corinne Hayes: Thank you.

John Harrison: Of course. And for everyone listening at home, it’s John Harrison on X101.
