Mural planned in Cortland to celebrate history rooted in agriculture

Main Street Farms is raising money and seeking local artists for a mural project planned for this summer.

The idea is to paint a design celebrating the area’s deep agricultural roots on the exterior of their South Main Street warehouse in Cortland.

Three agricultural businesses — Food & Ferments, Main Street Farms and Catalpa Flower Farms — use the building as their primary hub for washing, processing and packing their products.

A $13k goal is currently about $2,000 along the way, courtesy of 34 individual donations.

Additionally, 14 local artists submitted applications to participate.

Project organizers say any donation helps, no matter how small.

All proceeds will help pay for materials and artist stipends.
