Just before 11pm on Sunday, October 15th, Cortland Police responded to an order of protection violation call that occurred on Maple Ave. in the City of Cortland.
An investigation found 31 year old Quashawn D. Prince drove past the protected person’s home and then a short time later entered the residence without permission.
Officers then attempted to stop Prince, but a vehicle pursuit began in the City of Cortland. As Prince was fleeing from officers, he struck a utility pole while attempting to get on I81 from Homer Ave.
Cortland Police say his vehicle was badly damaged after the crash, but continued on I81 Northbound. His vehicle eventually failed on I81 North just before the crossing over Route 11 in Homer.
Officers were able to take him into custody and charged him with Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer, Criminal Trespass in the 2nd, Criminal Contempt in the 2nd, all Misdemeanors. Prince also had an outstanding warrant from an unrelated charge.
He was arraigned and remanded to Cortland County Jail. Prince is scheduled to appear in court at a later time. Assisting Cortland Police was the New York State Police and the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office.
