As firefighters responded to the area, the actual fire was a considerable distance from the road. Responding departments used off-road UTV’s to haul water, personnel, and equipment to the area of the fire.

The fire was able to be extinguished without causing major damage to the surrounding area. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the NYS Environmental Conservation Police.
