Around 5pm on Sunday, March 26th, NYS Department of Environmental Conservation and Fire Departments from Dryden, Freeville and McLean responded to a large downed timber fire.
As firefighters responded to the area, the actual fire was a considerable distance from the road. Responding departments used off-road UTV’s to haul water, personnel, and equipment to the area of the fire.
The fire was able to be extinguished without causing major damage to the surrounding area. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the NYS Environmental Conservation Police.
Dryden Fire reminds all residents that New York State is under its annual burn ban until May 14th.
