Additionally, Cortlandville and McGraw responded with tanker trucks, and a nearby stream provided a water source for fire crews. Firefighters fought the flames for nearly 60 minutes before the fire was knocked down and hot spots were being addressed.

Haights Gulf road was briefly shut down as firefighters worked on the fire between Route 13 and Dawson Road. Additionally, fire crews requested DOT crews to assist in sanding the road as weather conditions made the road to the scene an added challenge.

All units returned to service just before midnight that evening. The cause of the fire is currently unknown and under investigation by NYS Office of Fire Prevention and Control.

Additional assistance was provided by TLC Ambulance, Cortland County Sheriff, and Town of Homer Highway Department. Preble Fire Department also provided coverage for Homer as they fought the fire.
