A controlled burn training session for multiple area fire departments took place on Saturday, February 18th on Banner Road in Tully.

The Tully Hose Company was given the task to burn down a barn after several attempts were made to have the building demolished, but proved unsuccessful. With the weather cooperating on Saturday, the green light was given for the controlled burn.

NFPA 1403 preparation was done before the burn as well as proper calculations by fire officials to make the controlled burn safe for those training. The NY DEC also approved the burn, and demolition permits granted by the Village of Tully’s Code Office.

Several area departments took part in the training with Tully including: LaFayette, Otisco, Apulia, Nedrow, Fabius, Amber, Preble, Homer, and Cortlandville Fire Departments.
