Multiple Crashes Close Portions of I81 North in Homer & Tully

Update: 2/21/2025 11:00am – I81 North has reopened in both Homer and Tully

Multiple crashes involving tractor trailers have closed I81 North in both the Towns of Homer and Tully.

As of 10am Friday morning, I81 North is closed between Exit 54 (Old Exit 12) Homer Cortland and Exit 63 (Old Exit 13) Preble. Crews are currently on scene removing a tractor trailer on its side. State Police told X101 News the driver of the vehicle was checked on scene, but not transported to an area hospital. Both Homer and Cortlandville Fire are assisting with traffic control.

Additionally, I81 North is closed between Exit 67 (Old Exit 14) Tully and Exit 73 (Old Exit 15) Lafayette. State Police say the closure in Tully is due to a tractor trailer vs. box truck crash. Both operators sustained minor injuries. One operator was transported to Upstate University Hospital and the second operator was taken to Community General Hospital. State Police say I81 North will remain closed until around 11am. Traffic is being detoured to Route 11.
