The potential for a future dog park in the Town of Cortlandville continues to make progress. Town Supervisor Tom Williams spoke during Tuesday’s Town Board meeting of his wishes to invite the committee that was set up by the Town to look into the possibility of the park.
Plans for the dog park in the Town of Cortlandville began back in early 2019, but were delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, Tom Williams says with the growing popularity, now is the time to start looking into the Town of Cortlandville creating one.
The potential area of where the dog park would be would be on a piece of land on Fairview Drive. The land was originally used for stormwater management and borders the Cortland County Airport. Due to it being located next to the airport, Williams noted half the property is already fenced in.
Town Board Member David Donlick did suggest that the committee look into any type of grants that could be awarded for the creation of the dog park within the Town of Cortlandville. The committee is expected to attend the next board meeting to answer questions and share details on January 17th at the Raymond G. Thorpe Municipal Building at 5pm.
