First responders were summoned to the Betty Blue Bar in Moravia at 1 am Sunday to help a customer with a head injury.
New York State Police officers from Homer identified the man as Christoper Davis, 48, who reportedly injured himself at the bar.
Troopers say that while ambulance crew was taking Davis to the Cortland Regional Medical Center he became combative and choked an EMT and injured the caregiver’s throat.
The EMT was treated at CRMC for his injuries and released.
Davis was treated and when he was released, state police report arresting him and charging him with felony Assault and with Criminal Obstruction of Breathing or Blood Circulation.
According to state police, Davis was arraigned in the Town of Homer Court and sent to the Cortland County Jail awaiting bail.
His next court appearance is set for Tuesday, January 24.
