Money Allocated To Advance The Health Of The Elderly

Using state and federal funding, New York counties with county-based agencies on aging will receive a total of $74.6 million to make it easier for seniors to participate in nutritional and disease prevention services.

According to a news release from the state, that money will generate another $98 million in funding from municipalities and $11 million from program participants.

Cortland County is expected to receive nearly $321,000 in state and federal money to help older residents prevent or reduce the effects of chronic disease associated with diet and weight, increase focus on a healthy lifestyle including healthy foods and physical activity.
