State Police are searching for a 51-year-old Lansing resident who they say may be armed and potentially self-harmful.
Troopers were dispatched just before 8:00 last night (December 15) to the Locke Road residence of Frederick A. Knapp, not far from the Cayuga-Tompkins County line.
One of his family members called 911 and reported him to be in possession of a long gun, fearing he may harm himself.
A “shelter in place” alert was then issued to those nearby.
Early Monday morning, it was discovered that Knapp was not in the residence and troopers immediately began to search the neighboring area.
He’s described as 5-foot 8-inches tall, weighing about 120 pounds and last seen wearing jeans and a dark gray sweatshirt.
At no point did he make any threats to anyone else or police.
However, if you see him, do not approach him, but rather call 911 or Tompkins County Dispatch at (607)272-2444.
