Around 2:30 on Friday, December 29th, both the Marathon Area Volunteer Ambulance Corps (MAVAC) and the Marathon Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle crash of a car and farm tractor on Route 221 in Lapeer.

Emergency crews arrived to find the farm tractor missing its front wheels and the car heavily damaged on the passenger side and in a ditch along the road. MAVAC said in a release the driver of the car sustained minor injuries and was transported to a trauma center for evaluation as a precaution. The driver of the farm tractor was not injured.

Assisting MAVAC and Marathon Fire was the New York State Police. The cause of the crash remains under investigation, but drivers are being reminded to slow down and to share the road with slow moving vehicles and farm equipment.
