Meet the Candidates: 22nd Congressional District (audio)

Local News, On Demand, What We're Talking About

WXHC spoke with candidates for U.S. Congressional District 22 in the upcoming General Election on November 3, 2020:

Freshman‌ ‌Democratic‌ ‌incumbent‌ ‌Rep. Anthony‌ ‌Brindisi‌, of Utica, holds‌ ‌an early‌ ‌nine-point‌ ‌lead‌ ‌over‌ ‌former‌ ‌Republican‌ ‌congresswoman‌ ‌Claudia‌ ‌Tenney, of New Hartford, in a rematch of a 2018 race — that according to the latest‌ ‌Siena‌ ‌College/Syracuse.com‌ ‌poll‌ ‌of likely voters released‌ October 8

At that time, Brindisi unseated Tenney by less than one percentage point in a heavily Republican-voting district.

The latest poll found Brindisi’s favorability rating up to‌ ‌51-35‌ ‌percent‌, compared to‌ ‌47-41‌ ‌percent‌ in the same survey issued‌ ‌November‌ ‌4,‌ ‌2018.

Tenney‌ ‌has‌ ‌a‌ ‌negative‌ ‌37-52‌ ‌percent‌ ‌favorability‌ ‌rating,‌ ‌down‌ ‌from‌ ‌48-45‌ ‌percent‌ in the poll from 2018.

Both candidates are scheduled to debate this Thursday at 8 pm in Vestal, along with Libertarian Keith Price — that forum is closed off to the public, but will air live here.

New York’s 22nd Congressional District includes all of Chenango, Cortland, Madison, and Oneida counties, and parts of Broome, Herkimer, Oswego, and Tioga counties.
