Work is expected to begin soon on the redevelopment of the former JM Murray Center Day Habilitation Center and Offices at 4057 West Road (Route 281) in the Town of Cortlandville. The Cortlandville Planning Board voted last night unanimously to approve a conditional permit for the project. Work for the project did not need an aquifer permit.

Alton Ainslie and David McNeil were both present at the meeting with Ainslie speaking on the detailed plans to redevelop the property for future use as medical offices.

The lot consists of 6 total buildings, with the project presented having complete work done on buildings 5 and 6 (the two most northern buildings). Both buildings are pre-engineered metal builds and work will convert them to look more like office type buildings. All work will bring the buildings to NYS clean energy compliance.

The two buildings would service for patient visits, regularly scheduled health care, sick visits, same day walk-in clinic, imaging and labs. Hours of operation would be 7am to 7pm Monday through Friday, and 7am to 5pm on the weekends. Twenty-five people are expected to work at the office.

The current open lot between the buildings and Route 281, will be redone for proper parking with greenery and lighting. Design elements for the building were noted to be similar to the future tenant’s design elements at other locations. Again, McNeil did not disclose who the tenant would be. However, design elements and coloring shown during the meeting matched up to similar buildings that Guthrie currently runs such as Guthrie Corning Cancer Center.

With the approvals now, work could begin any day at the property. McNeil has stated he hopes the offices would be open around early October of next year. For the remaining buildings on the property, they will be eventually redeveloped, but staggered. Currently, two buildings have tenants and serve as warehouses.
