McGraw Trustees & C-ville Town Board Call for Investigation Into National Grid and NYSEG Over Skyrocketing Energy Bills
During Tuesday’s Village of McGraw Board of Trustees meeting, McGraw Mayor Joe Nauseef introduced a resolution calling for the New York State Public Service Commission (PSC) to investigate both National Grid and NYSEG regarding skyrocketing energy bills. The resolution was passed unanimously.
According to Nauseef, he looked to have McGraw join forces with neighboring municipalities in standing up against the increasing prices and voicing their concerns to both the PSC and New York State officials. The Town of Cincinnatus earlier this month passed a resolution calling for an investigation on NYSEG.
McGraw’s resolution included both National Grid and NYSEG as National Grid provides electricity while NYSEG provides natural gas services to residents in the village.
“The rapidly rising cost of gas and electricity has pushed too many of our residents, seniors, and small businesses to the breaking point. Gas and Electric bills have skyrocketed to an unrealistic and unaffordable price. Both National Grid and NYSEG’s delivery charges continue to climb without clear justification, and these increases are forcing families to make impossible choices. Putting food on the table, or keeping the lights on.” Nauseef said.
NYSEG has cited the rise in utility bills due to a rise in supply prices from an increase in consumption by customers during a colder-than-normal winter.
The Town of Cortlandville Town Board also passed a resolution forwarded by the Town of Cincinnatus during their meeting Wednesday evening calling for an investigation.
