McGraw Man Pleads Guilty in Child Sex Abuse Case

Robert Schulte.

Cortland County District Attorney Patrick Perfetti announced yesterday afternoon the guilty plea by 45 year old Robert Schulte of McGraw. Schulte entered a guilty plea to Course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child in the 1st, a class “B” violent, sexual, felony offense.

“This was a case where the abuse went on over a period of time, at least with the plea the victim and family can look forward to the sentencing and maybe attain some degree of closure,” said D.A. Perfetti.

The DA’s Office recognized the Sheriff’s Office Juvenile Officer Investigator, Wright for his “superb” work in preserving evidence in the case. DA Perfetti noted Wright and other officers within the division have received specialized training in the investigation for these types of cases and how to conduct forensic interviews.

“We recognize that there will be challenges ahead for the victim and her family in negotiating the healing process, we are grateful to the Cortland County Child Advocacy Center and its Victim Advocates who will be there to coordinate that needed assistance;” stated Chief Assistant District Attorney (CADA) Jessica Weyant, DA’s Lead Special Victims Prosecutor.

Weyant continued on to note the importance of the victim reporting the crime and being able to come forward to testify in the investigation. Schulte will be sentenced in Cortland County Court by Judge David Alexander on July 16th.
