A McGraw woman and her boyfriend were arrested yesterday (August 5) after authorities say an eight-year-old girl was subjected to inappropriate contact at their residence while under their care.
The defendants are identified as 32-year-old Catherine MacGibbon and 36-year-old Chad Rackett, both of Church Street in McGraw.
Their arrests come at the end of an abuse investigation conducted by the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office.
No specific details on what happened were given, but Rackett now faces the more severe charges.
He’s charged with aggravated sex abuse, a class D felony, while MacGibbon is charged with endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor.
Both were arraigned and released on their own recognizance. MacGibbon is due back in Cortlandville town court on August 19 and Rackett on August 21.
