McGraw Community Bids ‘Farewell’ to Fallen Dpt. Fire Chief

Local News

A special procession today (February 17) led by the McGraw Fire Department honored the life of fallen Dpt. Chief Brian Davis, who passed away last week at the age of 44 following a sudden health complication.

Davis was born August 11, 1975 in Ithaca, but soon moved to the village where he’d end up spending the majority of his years.

His involvement with the fire department came prior to his graduation from McGraw High School in 1993, serving the community in that capacity for a total of 26 years,

After high school, Davis also worked as an electrician, UPS, Village of McGraw, NYS State Highway Dept. and most recently Suit-Kote Corp. According to his obituary from Wright-Beard Funeral Home, he also enjoyed the outdoors, especially camping.

His family and countless numbers of friends will cherish his memory as being selfless, always putting others and his community first.

Calling hours were held at Wright-Beard (9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland) from 10 am-1 pm, followed by a service at 1:30 pm and a procession afterwards to the McGrawville Rural Cemetery.

Contributions may be made to the McGraw Fire Dept. To offer online condolences visit www.wright-beard.com.
