Matt Brooks: [00:00:00] Good morning. I’m Matt Brooks on X 1 0 1 a. Always classic in for a special edition of happening in Homer and with me in the studio. Well, it’s the mayor of the Village of Homer, Pat Clune. How’s it going this morning?

Pat Clune: Great, Matt. Good morning.

Matt Brooks: Alright, well we have a lot to talk about because the Village Comprehensive Plan, well, you got updates on it.

Tell me all about it.

Pat Clune: Oh, we got a lot of projects going on, as I think we’ve mentioned in the past. And

Matt Brooks: just a couple

Pat Clune: now that we’ve got the election over with. And congratulations to everybody. And, but also I’d like to do a quick, appreciation for everybody who ran. You know, it takes a lot to get out there, and put yourselves out there, open to scrutiny from everybody.

So congrats to those who, who won. And, really, an appreciation for everybody who ran.

Matt Brooks: Yeah. I mean, it’s what makes this government run is people who are willing to take that step and, and put in the work.

Pat Clune: Yeah. Now with that, so now that we’ve got that behind us, we’ve got a whole slew of projects that we’ve.

Gotta dig into. And one of ’em is our [00:01:00] comprehensive plan. They’re supposed to be, reviewed about every 15, 20 years, and we’re at that timeframe. And the great news is we got a a $80,000 grant, and of which we have an $8,000 match. So we’re getting great return on our dollar for that. But what I need is, I need volunteers.

So essentially, we had our startup kickoff. Meeting yesterday and the Highland planning, which we’ll be doing, the comprehensive plan for us, we need about eight to 10 village residents covering all spectrums from business owners to neighborhood residents and everything in between. And we have to get them together for what’s called the steering committee.

Matt Brooks: Okay. So what I mean, you’re talking about all breadths of life. They have to be village residents. What does the steering committee do?

Pat Clune: So the steering committee takes the information, that will be provided by Hyland and helps provide direction [00:02:00] and across sampling of how we want to see our village in the next 10 to 15 years.

Matt Brooks: And you said you need about eight to 10 residents. Can it be more if. You get a influx?

Pat Clune: Well, they try to keep at, at about 10, because after, if you get too many, you can get kind of unwieldy. There’ll be about six meetings between now and next November, and it’ll be a little intensive. They’ll, they’ll have some reading, assignments to do.

Matt Brooks: All right. And if people aren’t interested, what would be the best way to express that interest? Do they email you, give the village a call?

Pat Clune: Well, the best thing to do would be to email me. Go to the Village website and email me. ’cause we have the new ny.org. Dot gov, correction.gov email, or they can call the village office or they can email anybody, at the village office and get their information to me.

Name plenty of fine

Matt Brooks: folk there.

Pat Clune: Yes. Yes. So, and then, we will go from there.

Matt Brooks: Alright, perfect. Is there a deadline to, [00:03:00] to, to volunteer?

Pat Clune: Yes. I need the information, which is why it’s great. We’re doing this today. I need to have names, to me by the 14th, so of November, so that we can go through ’em and.

Conduct interviews and discuss if needed.

Matt Brooks: All right. That’s a lot of great information. Again, deadline the 14th contact. The village, if you’re interested, must be a village resident. And, this is a volunteer for the steering committee that really helps shape the future of the village.

Pat Clune: Excellent. Yes.

Matt Brooks: All right.

Thank you, mayor for coming in today, and, we’ll see you soon.

Pat Clune: Thank you, Matt.

Matt Brooks: It’s been another edition of happening at Homer here at X 1 0 1 Always Classic. I’m Matt Brooks.
