May is Older Americans Month – Office of Aging Looking For Food Pantry Donations


This month is Older Americans month and the Cortland County Office of Aging is looking for donations for the Helping Hands Pantry at the County Office Building at 60 Central Ave. The pantry is open Monday through Friday from 9am to 3 in the afternoon.

The pantry serves those in Cortland County ages 60 years and older. Items that are needed to continue the pantry include unexpired and non-perishable food items, but also personal items. Cash donations are always appreciated.

Some items that may be donated can be seen below:

  • Cereal
  • Hamburger Helper
  • Soups
  • Instant Potatoes
  • Peanut Butter
  • Canned Veggies
  • Oatmeal
  • Rice
  • Boxed Mac & Cheese
  • Pork & Beans
  • Can and/or Box Juice
  • Hand-Held Can Openers
  • Toothpaste
  • Soap
  • Shampoo
  • Deodorant

If planning to make a donation via check, checks may be made out to the Coalition of Center Councils. More information on the pantry can be found by calling the Office For Aging at 607-753-5060.
