MAVAC Receives $20K Grant From JM McDonald Foundation For New Portable Radios

The Marathon Area Volunteer Ambulance Corps (MAVAC) says they have recently been awarded a $20,000 grant from the JM McDonald Foundation. The grant money MAVAC says will go towards the purchase of five new Motorola APX N50 portable radios for their EMS vehicles and chiefs.

“These radios will allow us to communicate seamlessly throughout our coverage areas in both Cortland and Broome Counties. They have several advanced communication features, and the new radios are smaller, lighter and have superior battery life compared to our existing radios.” MAVAC said in a release.

The organization says they pursue any grant opportunities they can find to ensure the communities they serve are served with state-of-the-art equipment and also reduce the financial burden for said communities.
