20 people in Cortland County tested positive for COVID on Friday. The Central New York 7-day average of cases per 100,000 population remains highest in the state.

You should wear a mask indoors here in Cortland County. Also in Cayuga, Madison, Onondaga and Oswego counties, regardless of your vaccination status.

So says the State Health Director, with COVID cases and new hospital admissions rising in central New York.

Get your boosters. Get tested if you don’t feel well.

Commissioner Dr. Mary Bassett reminds us, the good news is we have the tools to address this.

One tool: Boosters. If you are 50 or older, and you received your first COVID booster shot at least four months ago, you can get a second booster.

Adults 18 – 49 Years Who Received the Johnson & Johnson Vaccine and Immunocompromised New Yorkers 12 years and older also eligible for a Pfizer or Moderna booster – four months after your First. Booster doses are free and widely available statewide, including at all state-run mass vaccination sites.
