WXHC News yesterday (November 5) received a statement from Marvin Windows & Doors about the company’s decision to close down its Cortland distribution center.
According to the statement, which was made by a PR-firm representing Marvin, all Cortland-based operations are being merged with a new Connecticut-based distributing facility the company recently acquired in order to streamline its regional business.
The Cortland facility will no longer operate as a distribution center, effective December 31 of this year, however about half its employees will continue working for Marvin at other locations.
Others are reportedly being helped to find new opportunities elsewhere.
Company officials also say they’re still evaluating options for the Cortland building and will share an update with the community at a future time.

“Marvin recently acquired A.W. Hastings & Co., a distributor based in Enfield, Conn., and will be merging Cortland, N.Y.-based operations with the Enfield facility to streamline operations in this region.
As of December 31, 2019, Marvin’s Cortland, N.Y. facility will no longer operate as a distribution center. This decision was recently made after careful consideration of many factors.
About half of the employees from the Cortland facility will continue to work for Marvin, and the company is assisting other employees with finding new job opportunities.
The company is still evaluating options for the Cortland building and will share an update with the community at a future time.” -Chelsey Knutson, Carmichael-Lynch, Inc.
