Marathon Woman Provides Officers With False Name to Avoid Arrest For Outstanding Warrant

Officers with the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office responded to Thrifty Shopper in Cortlandville just after 9:30pm on Sunday, August 25th. During an investigation, officers determined there were multiple people trespassing on the property.

The Sheriff’s Office says one of those individuals, 34 year old Philicia D. Twomey of Marathon, gave officers a false name in an attempt to avoid being arrested on a violation of probation warrant that was issued by the City of Cortland Police Department. Officers were able to identify Twomey though and she was taken into custody.

Twomey was charged with Criminal Impersonation in the 2nd, a Misdemeanor. She was taken to the Sheriff’s Office for processing and later released to the custody of Cortland Police to answer the warrant. She is due in Cortlandville Town Court later this month.
