Marathon Woman Arrested Following Leaving Scene of Crash – Found to be Driving While Intoxicated
Around 4 in the afternoon on Thursday, September 18th, the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office responded to Cortland Street in Marathon for a two-vehicle property damage accident. Responding officers learned one of the vehicles involved had left the scene of the accident.
The vehicle that left the scene was located a short time later though, the Sheriff’s Office says. The driver of that vehicle, identified as 43 year old Krystal L. Potter of Marathon, was found to be driving while intoxicated. Officers also learned she was driving while her license was suspended.
Potter was arrested and charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 1st, and DWI, both Felonies. She also was issued several infractions, including failure to comply with lawful order and leaving the scene of a property damage accident.
She was taken to the Sheriff’s Office for processing and later arraigned via the Centralized Arraignment Process where she was released on her own recognizance. Potter is due in Marathon Town Court next month.
