Marathon Schools Announces Temporary Bus Run Consolidation Due to Ongoing Driver Shortage
In a letter to parents, Marathon Central School District Superintendent, Jamie Coppola, said due to an ongoing shortage of school bus drivers, the district will be temporarily consolidating some school bus runs beginning on December 1st. Coppola added the district’s transportation department is finalizing the changes and will send updated route information soon.
Not all routes will be affected, but Coppola noted, routes changed will also have adjusted pick-up and drop-off times.
“Due to these bus route changes and the combining of some routes, we will not be able to allow additional students on in the morning and or in the afternoon. The buses affected are: Snake, Bear, and Horse.”
Coppola added the district understands that a change in routes may be disruptive and the district apologizes for any inconvenience. The district has been actively recruiting additional drivers and hopes the shortage can be resolved soon.
