(O’Neill)

A Marathon man was arraigned last week for an incident at the end of last month where he was caught trying to use counterfeit money at two different gas stations in the town of Cortlandville.

Investigators with the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office say the defendant is 32-year-old Jarod O’Neill, of Turner Hill Road in Marathon, who was also found to be wanted by State Parole and in possession of more counterfeit bills and a small amount of narcotics at the time of his arrest.

Officers said O’Neill attempted to use counterfeit money on March 26 at the Sunoco Gas Station at 3817 US Route 11, as well as the McGraw Travel Plaza / Pit Stop at 3742 US Route 11, both in the Town of Cortlandville.

O’Neill was located by police the following day (March 27) walking on Elm Street in the City of Cortland.

He’s been remanded to jail and is set to reappear in Cortlandville Court on May 13 and Cortland City Court on May 15.
