Marathon Man Arrested For Crashing Vehicle While Impaired by Drugs – Found in Possession of Drugs


Just after 5:30 in the afternoon, emergency personal, including the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office responded to a single-vehicle crash in the area of Divers Crossing Road in the Town of Marathon.

An investigation by officers into the cause of crash found the operator, identified at 46 year old Phillip A. Mono of the Town of Marathon, was driving while his ability was impaired by drugs. Mono was taken into custody and then found to be in possession of drugs.

Officers charged Mono with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 1st, a Felony, DWAI by Drugs, Unlicensed Operator, Failed to Keep Right, Drover Across Hazard Markings, Use Rented/Leased/Loaned Vehicle without Interlock Device, Moved from Lane Unsafely, and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th.

He was taken to the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office for processing. He was arraigned the following morning and was remanded to Cortland County Jail on no bail. Mono is due in Marathon Town Court later this month.
