Man with an outstanding violation of probation warrant from Jefferson County caught in Cortland

A complaint of a larceny was the reason officers from the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office were called to the Tops on Route 281 on Sunday (Dec. 26). When the officers arrived and approached the individual, he tried to run but didn’t get very far. Leland E. Blackmore Jr. of Watertown was arrested for violation of probation warrant, resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration, and theft.


He was taken to the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office and processed for his previous stated charges. The 52 year old was transferred to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office to handle his warrant charges.

He is scheduled to appear in court on January 10 at 1pm.
