An Ulster County man who admitted to possessing 250 packets of heroin in Cortland will spend up to 7 years in state prison. He was originally supposed to be sentenced to 4 years.
35-year-old Shawn Richardson pleaded guilty back in September to criminal sale of a controlled substance in the third degree, a class B felony.
Richardson and Tori Gaeta, also of Ulster County, were both arrested back in March after police found 250 packets of heroin and $1,300 in cash in their vehicle at the Riverside Plaza.
Richardson, who is a two-time felony offender, was promised four years in state prison but was involved in a fight in the county jail where he broke another inmate’s jaw.
The judge added 3 more years to cover the additional charge.
