Man Wanted by State Police Found With Drugs

On Thursday, February 29th around 5 in the evening, officers from the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office responded to a civil complaint at an address on Elm Street in the City of Cortland. Once officers arrived, they discovered one of the persons at the scene had an active warrant for his arrest by the New York State Police.


The wanted person was identified as 34 year old Joshua M. Strauf of Cortland. Officers arrested Strauf for his outstanding warrant and while he was being taken into custody he was found to be in possession of a controlled substance.

Strauf was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th and then taken to the Sheriff’s Office where he was processed and then released on an appearance ticket. He was then turned over to State Police to answer his warrant.
