Around 11 o’clock at night on Friday, September 1st, Ithaca Police responded to the West Village Apartments for a reported domestic incident.
After arriving at the scene, officers learned 48 year old Donta Braxton was involved in an argument with a resident of one of the apartments inside the building. Officers learned Braxton had forced his way into the apartment, and then a physical altercation occurred with the resident of the apartment.
The resident then stabbed Braxton in self-defense during the altercation. He suffered non-life threatening injuries and was treated at Cayuga Medical Center. Once released, he was arrested and charged with Burglary in the 2nd, a Felony, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a Misdemeanor, and Harassment in the 2nd, a Violation, by IPD Officers.
Braxton also had active warrants out by Ithaca Police that were served during his arrest. He was arraigned and then remanded to Tompkins County Jail with no bail.
