Officers from the City of Cortland Police Department responded to 7 Winter Street in the City of Cortland on Friday, September 1st for a reported assault.
After officers arrived, the female victim informed them of 30 year old Chase M. Hopkins had shot her with an airsoft rifle and then proceeded to headbutt her and hit her in the face with the stock of the weapon.
The victim sustained injuries to her face and teeth during the assault. Hopkins was arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd, Assault in the 2nd, both Felonies, Menacing in the 2nd, and Possession of a Synthetic Drug, both Misdemeanors.
Hopkins was arraigned and sent to Cortland County Jail. He is due to appear in Cortland City Court at a later date.
