A Cortland County Judge has handed down the maximum sentence for a man found guilty of robbing the local K-Mart Store and assaulting a manager there.
Chad Cain was Thursday for robbing the Kmart store in Cortlandville in October of last year.
Cain was attempting to steal tool box sets from the store when a manager confronted him. Cain hit the manager in the head with one of the tool boxes and fled.
Last month, a jury convicted him of two counts of third-degree robbery following. He was found not guilty on charges of first and second-degree robbery.
County Judge Julie Campbell sentenced Cain to 3 to 7 years in state prison, which is the maximum time allowed.
