Authorities now say a man has died after being stabbed just before 7:30 this morning (March 2) at the Cortland Motel on Route 11.
A second man remains at Guthrie Cortland Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries, according to the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office.
The two are believed to be the only individuals involved in the incident at this time. Their identities have not yet been released.
Both men were taken by TLC Ambulance to Guthrie Cortland Medical Center, where the deceased male ultimately succumbed to a stab wound to his chest.

Also helping at the scene were members of New York State Police and the Cortlandville Fire Department.

A person was rushed to Guthrie Cortland Medical Center with life-threatening injuries this morning (March 2) after reportedly being stabbed at the Cortland Motel on Route 11 near Polkville, according to the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office.
No more details are available and the current status of the victim has not been verified.
Police have also not yet warned the community about any potential suspect(s) in the area at this time.
More information is expected this afternoon.
Assisting the Sheriff’s Office at the scene were members of TLC ambulance and New York State Police.
