Man Found With Loaded Sawed-off Shotgun and Drugs After Fleeing Crash


On Halloween, the New York State Police responded to a 911 report of a car vs. tree crash near Virgil and Bradshaw Rd. in the Town of Dryden.

When State Police arrived, they found the operator of the vehicle had fled the scene of the crash. State Police were able to identify the driver as 31 year old Steven W. Park of Brooktondale, NY.

Dryden Police assisted State Police in locating Park in the Town Court parking lot. An investigation by troopers found Park had in his possession a loaded illegal sawed-off shotgun, a bulletproof vest, nearly 53.4 grams of Meth, 2.2 grams of possible valium, and over 300 grams of weed.

Park was arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd with intent to sell, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd, both Felonies. He was also charged with misdemeanors of Unlawful purchase of body armor 1st, and Criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh.

He was transported to Tompkins County Centralized Arraignment for processing.

The New York State Police did note that Park had been previously arrested on October 25th for speeding, fleeing police, and driving recklessly. He eventually gave up fleeing from police in the backyard of a residence on Caroline Depot Rd. and was taken into custody.
