The City of Cortland Police responded Friday Night (May 6) around 8pm to Church Street in the City of Cortland for a man standing in the roadway obstructing traffic.
When officers arrived, they gave directions to 25 year old Robert W. Vandebogart to exit the roadway. After refusing, officers took him into custody when he tried to pull away, kicking officers, and then spitting on them.
He was found to be in possession of a small container of meth. After arriving at the police department for processing he repeatedly spit on the floors and walls.
Robert W. Vandebogart was charged with Disorderly Conduct (Violation), Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Resisting Arrest, and Criminal Tampering (all Misdemeanors).
He was released on appearance tickets and is due back in City Court on May 23rd.
