Around 7:45 last Saturday evening, Ithaca Police responded to the 200 block of Cleveland Ave for a reported dispute.
Through an investigation conducted by officers of the dispute, one person involved in the dispute, identified as 50 year old Miguel Matos of Ithaca, was taken into custody by IPD. As Matos was being taken into custody however, he attempted to get control of a Ithaca Police Officer’s gun by making multiple attempts to forcibly remove the weapon from the holster.
Matos was charged by IPD with Attempted Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd, a Felony. He was arraigned and then remanded to Tompkins County Jail with no bail.
One officer sustained minor injuries during the incident.
