Man Arrested for Violating Order of Protection of Three People

Last Thursday, July 13th, a traffic stop was conducted around 11:30 in the morning by officers from the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office on Route 222 in Cortlandville for multiple traffic infractions.


During the stop, officers discovered the operator of the vehicle, 42 year old Jason T. Stevens of Altmar, NY, was violating an order of protection that protected three people who were inside the vehicle, with two being minors. Officers also learned Stevens was driving with his license revoked.

None of the three people who had the order of protection were injured during the situation.

Officers arrested and charged Stevens with Aggravated Family Offense, a Felony, 2 counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, 3 counts of Criminal Contempt in the 2nd, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 2nd, all Misdemeanors, and numerous traffic infractions.

He was transported to the Sheriff’s Office and later arraigned through CAP arraignment and remanded to Cortland County Jail with no bail. He is due to appear in Cortlandville Town County today.
